Here are the 9 we chose to enlarge.

We don’t yet have the digital images from our photographer. We have seen the printed proofs, though, and they look good. If you’ve been waiting to see them, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer.
What we do have, however, are photos from the other digital cameras that were fluttering around on our big day. We have created a wedding gallery to share these photos with everybody. We will be adding to this gallery as more photos come in. We hope you enjoy them.
I got a tiny chocolate stain on my dress so I took it to Clover cleaners this morning. It’ll take about a month to get done, but I’m not in a rush.
Here’s my predicament. I don’t really want to lug this dress around for all eternity. It takes up a massive amount of room in the closet. I’ve also got two prom dresses and two bridesmaid dresses that I’m ready to part with as well.
So… what do I do with it? I opted to have it hung and not boxed to save some cash because I was thinking about taking it to a consignment shop. Liz said they would give her about a hundred dollars for her dress. Anybody know of any places like that in the cities? Or should I try to get more cash by doing something like ebay? Kris seems to want me to hang on to it for a little longer. In both of the last two situations, it would be better for me to call the cleaners and request that it be boxed up.
I’d like to hear from any former brides out there regarding their decision and if they felt it was the correct decision.
The weather – C. We went from 90 degree days and weeks without rain to a steady, constant rain the entire weekend of the wedding. I never got the impression that it was stormy, just constant. After all was said and done, Rochester ended up with about 7 inches of rain over two days and is now dealing with flooding problems. The disappointing part was not being able to take any pictures in the beautiful gardens. The up side was not having to deal with miserable heat.
The hotel – B. The rooms themselves were great. We had a mini fridge, comfortable bed, and an overall pleasing appearance. The downside was the odd parking ramp and slow elevators.
The “Last Supper” – A-. The wait to get into Famous Dave’s was longer than expected, but the service was polite and prompt once we were seated. We all stuffed ourselves like big fatty piggies with yummy BBQ.
The Plummer house – A. Its a wonderful place to hold a wedding. Everything (its almost all antiques) can be moved and used. I love the looks of the gardens and the initial impression the house gives when approaching on the circle drive.
David’s Bridal – A. I bought the second dress I tried on, but I did try on about 12 of them. The dress arrived when they said it would and was ordered correctly the first time. The shoes also arrived when they said they would. My advice to future patrons is not to give a cell phone number as they do share your personal information with other businesses and you’ll get spammed with wedding-related phone calls and junk mail.
Sewing by Carolyn – A. I’ll miss Carolyn’s sewing expertise now that I’ve moved. She charges a fair rate and has always had my dresses ready when she says she would. She is very knowledgeable about alterations and takes pride in her work. She even removed a lipstick stain I happened to get on my dress. I like that she does her work out of a little building on farmland about 11 miles south of Rochester. When I take her my dresses I feel like I’m supporting “the little guy”.
Flowers by Jerry – A-. The flowers were delivered on time to the Plummer House and were what I ordered. I was expecting Sarah’s bouquet to be bigger than it was.
Daube’s Bakery – A. Cynthia Daube herself delivered our cake to the Plummer House. It was beautiful and tasted amazing. (I wasn’t really able to eat much of the cake on the wedding day, but the leftover cake I hauled home was terrific the next day when my appetite returned… I’m looking forward to eating the last four pieces I shoved in the freezer.) We got a bit nervous because the cake was delivered about 3:15 instead of 2:30.
Decorating – A. The decorations far exceeded my expectations. The pictures will turn out better with the pretty flowers since we weren’t able to take any outdoors.
The Photographer – B+. Ben was great and his calm attitude was great for our wedding. He arrived on time and we’re excited to see how the photos turned out. He mentioned they could be ready as early as Friday, but obviously we won’t be able to get them and post them for a while. Under special considerations I had written that my parents were divorced, but evidently he had missed that and we had a couple of odd moments… that’s the only reason for the grade deduction.
The caterer – B. The caterer showed up on time but the food was rather bland. This was probably our own fault because we stressed “no MSG” over and over again… which Tom easily accommodated. They were very organized and were able to set everything up beforehand so the wedding (in the very next room) was not disturbed. I really appreciated the take out containers and that they packed up all the leftovers for us so we could donate the food to the Dorothy Day house.
The tuxes – B. We got what we ordered but they were more expensive than necessary.
JCPenney Salon – B. Again, we got what we wanted but it was more expensive than necessary. The salons in the mall were the only ones open on a Sunday morning.
The guitarists – A+. I love these guys. They were great and the music was terrific. We share the same tastes in music… Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles, etc. If I was in Rochester, I’d go to Scott for guitar lessons.
The officiant – A. I’ll admit I was wrong here. I wanted to break Jami and Sarah Kay’s record of having a 19 and 17 minute ceremonies, respectively. When I started to adjust Ruth’s normal ceremony flow, I could tell she was receptive but adjustments weren’t something she does often. So, I just said that I wanted to replace “a tribute” with “a reading” and left it at that. (I would have chopped it down to a grand total of about five minutes… I seem to remember it took about 25.) It was a great ceremony and I’m glad we used her flow instead of what I would have done. I was wrong.
Cafe Presto – A. I like this place. I’ve had breakfast there before. It is only a couple of buildings away from the hotel. Its a family run business with low prices that makes me wonder how they make any money at all.
So, overall, I’d give it an 89%.
I’m in the hotel lobby. It’s about 11:30. Marie has been busy all day. I’m still waking up.
Bob and I need to be in our tuxedos and over to the house by 1pm. If I read the schedule correctly, Marie is getting her hair done. It’s not raining right now, but it most likely will be later. I suppose having rain on your wedding day is better than having really hot weather.
I’d rather have rain than heat.
It’s official. Marie and I have moved in together. Last weekend we were in Rochester cleaning her apartment and loading up the last pickup load of stuff. On Monday we were both in this house together. I printed her a set of address labels with her new address and soon-to-be new name. I don’t think she likes the way “Mr. and Mrs. Kristopher Setnes” sounds though.
We’re finding out that we simply have too much stuff. We have two of everything. We’re trying to sort our stuff just to make it fit. We’re making a large pile to take to the thrift store. We’re getting better at it. We were able to make a deposit at Savers once without even taking the car out of gear.
We have 19 days left. Until then we’re going to enjoy “living in sin.”
I see it as an outright attack on our mailbox, but both Marie and I think it was a great idea. We have recently started getting copious amounts of congratulatory letters. On Wednesday last week we actually got nine letters. We love going to the mailbox every day to see if any more letters have arrived. Evidently this was done instead of Marie having a wedding shower. We are unsure how many of the letters were prompted by the organized card shower effort and how many would have came to us anyway. We’re also not sure who did most of the planning, but we have a pretty good idea Sarah was behind this somehow.
Bob and I went to Men’s Wearhouse last night to rent our tuxedos for the wedding. I hope we look good. Here is what I will be wearing. Bob will be dressed the same, except he will have the red diamond vest with a black tie. We are opting for the regular “Euro Tie” instead of the “Bow Tie.”
